Kimberly (“Kim”) Joo, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, CNE, EBP-C, is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner with more than 30 years of experience in pediatric nursing. Throughout her career, she has also served as a nurse educator and healthcare leader. She began her career as a bedside registered nurse in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), where she practiced for 17 years while raising three sons with her husband. During that time, she earned a Master of Science in Nursing and a graduate certificate in nursing education, laying the foundation for a distinguished career in advanced practice, nursing education, and healthcare leadership.

For the past 13 years, Kim has combined clinical practice with nursing education. She served on the faculty at Wright State University (WSU) for seven years, teaching undergraduate and graduate nursing students and serving as Director of the Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) Program for three years while completing her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. She later joined The Ohio State University (OSU), where she taught undergraduate pathophysiology, graduate pharmacology, and courses within the Primary Care PNP program. Throughout her academic career, she also maintained an active clinical practice as a pediatric nurse practitioner in Urgent Care at Dayton Children’s Hospital.

In 2020, Kim was appointed Lead Advanced Practice Provider for Urgent Care and Kids Express at Dayton Children’s Hospital, where she now leads a team of 30 nurse practitioners. She has also taught in the Health Athlete Program within the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University. Beyond her clinical and academic roles, Kim contributes to the advancement of pediatric nursing by serving as an item writer for the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board’s Primary Care Updates and as an evidence-based practice mentor for the Fuld National Institute for Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) where she reviews EBP certification applications.

Kim previously served as Treasurer of the Ohio Chapter from 2022 to 2024 and as President-Elect from 2024 to 2026.
