Nurse Practitioner of the Year

The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP)/Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) of the Year nominee should be a person who has contributed to the role of the PNP or FNP in one or more of the following areas: clinical practice, research in a related field, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, community involvement, creating or sustaining partnerships (e.g., multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary), or innovative leadership that supports the development of infants, children, and adolescents. The nominee must be a current member of the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and currently practicing as a nurse practitioner in the area of pediatrics. The recipient will receive 1 year of paid membership dues for the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, including the Ohio Chapter annual membership dues, along with a recognition plaque awarded at the Ohio Chapter’s annual conference.

Student of the Year 

The Student of the Year Award recognizes an outstanding graduate student. This student should exhibit outstanding behaviors in leadership, scholarship, professionalism, and/or service. The nominee must be a current Ohio Chapter member and enrolled in an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) graduate nursing program in Ohio that prepares the nurse to care for pediatric patients. The Student of the Year is awarded the costs of registration fees for attendance at one future conference hosted by the Ohio Chapter and will be recognized and awarded a plaque at the Ohio Chapter’s annual conference.

Child Advocate of the Year

This award recognizes the work of a community member or group that has helped to improve the health care of children while supporting the role of the pediatric or family nurse practitioner. Nominations for the Child Advocate Award must be submitted by a member of the Ohio Chapter. The Child Advocate recipient will be recognized with a plaque at the Ohio Chapter’s annual conference.

National Conference Scholarships

This $1,500 scholarship is intended to provide an opportunity for members of the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners to attend the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners annual conference. One current Ohio Chapter member and one current student Ohio Chapter member will be selected. Priority consideration is given to members who take an active role in professional service, nursing education, practice innovation and outcomes, or service to children and families in their community. Recipients of the scholarship may use the scholarship award for registration fees and travel expenses associated with the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners’ annual conference. Following the conference, awardees will be expected to submit a brief summary of their conference experience, which will be publicly disseminated via the Ohio Chapter’s website, newsletter, and social media platforms.

Scholarship Grants: Research Study and Scholarly Project

The Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners has established scholarship grants to further the research and scholarship of its members. Grants may be awarded for various types of research studies and scholarly projects, such as evidence-based practice (EBP) and quality improvement (QI) projects.

The applicant must be a current member of the Ohio Chapter for a minimum of 2 years. The applicant will be required to show proof that the proposed scholarly project or research study protocol was reviewed and approved by the appropriate institutional review board (IRB), and as applicable, received administrative approval at each project site prior to receiving the grant funds. Additional requirements and expectations are stated within the application. This grant scholarship provides the recipient with a $500 grant toward project- or research study-related expenses. DNP and PhD students who are members of the Ohio Chapter are encouraged to apply!

Service Grants

The Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners’ mission and belief is that all children have a right to quality health care and the opportunity to develop in a safe and secure environment. The Ohio Chapter promotes and supports the role of pediatric advanced practice nursing in its efforts to optimize the quality of life for children and their families. The applicant must be a current member of the Ohio Chapter. Additional requirements and expectations are stated within the application.

MaryAnn Rosencrans Mental Health Scholarship

The applicant must be a current member of the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners for a minimum of 2 years and currently practicing in a pediatric-focused advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) role. Additional requirements and expectations are stated within the application. Consideration will be given to those pediatric-focused APRNs who have taken an active role in the care of children and adolescents with emotional or behavioral health problems.
