Conference Objectives

At the conclusion of the conference, the attendee will be able to:

1. Describe evidence-based care for several pediatric illnesses and conditions.

2. Discuss the select laws and rules pertinent to APRN practice in Ohio.

This program on August 19, 2023, is approved by the Ohio Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP) for 8.25 NAPNAP contact hours, of which 2.5 contain pharmacology y (Rx) (Ø related to psychopharmacology and 0.25 related to controlled substances) per the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners Continuing Education Guidelines

Poster 04: Pediatric Nurse Practitioners in the NICU

  1. Define Nationwide Children’s Hospital (NCH) Comprehensive Center for Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia (CCBPD) Unit’s Chronic Care Model.
  2. Discuss the impact of pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at NCH.
  3. Describe the benefits of having a PNP as part of a large multidisciplinary NICU team.

Poster 05: Clinical Pathways Program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital

  1. Describe the process used to develop evidence-based care pathways at Nationwide Childrens Hospital.
  2. Discuss how to access and utilize the Clinical Pathways Program website and/or Physician Connect app for decision support of common pediatric diagnoses and symptoms.

Poster 07: Management of Functional Constipation in the NICU: Improving Outcomes in Patients with BPD

Objectives: At the end of the poster presentation, the learner will be able to:

  1. Define functional constipation (FC) and infant dyschezia in neonates.
  2. Identify medications that are safe to use in neonates for the treatment of FC.
  3. Recognize risk factors for developing FC in patients with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD).
