Beth Heuer, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC, PMHS, FAANP is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner and pediatric primary care mental health specialist. She currently serves as a Clinical Professor and Director of the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner specialty tracks in the College of Nursing at The Ohio State University, where she is dedicated to advancing pediatric education, practice, and mentorship.
A Fellow of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (FAANP), Dr. Heuer’s extensive clinical expertise spans developmental and behavioral pediatrics, neurology, residential treatment, and the care of children with neurodevelopmental disorders. She has contributed to numerous federally funded and industry-sponsored research projects and is a frequent invited speaker on topics such as pediatric behavioral health, neurodevelopmental disorders, and clinical education.
A passionate educator and preceptor advocate, Dr. Heuer is the co-editor of The Nurse Preceptor Toolkit: Preparing Nurses and Advanced Practice Nurses for Clinical Practice. She has delivered over 40 peer-reviewed podium and poster presentations at national conferences. She serves on the editorial boards of both the Journal of Pediatric Health Care and the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. In 2025, she received the Nelms-Berg Department Editor Award in recognition of her outstanding editorial contributions.
Dr. Heuer serves as the Continuing Education Co-Chair for the Ohio Chapter and as a member of national NAPNAP’s Education Strategy Committee. She has held multiple national leadership roles, including Executive Board Secretary and Chair of the Professional Issues Committee, and has co-authored several national NAPNAP position statements that have shaped pediatric nurse practitioner practice and policy.
